The DreamWind
Dr. King had a dream but I have this theory.
Martin King's life continued invisibly in his hometown for a full decade after his death-- not in memory but in mission; not in remembrance but reality. It happened and I found myself in the middle of the Dreamwind.
The theory now posits that after Dr. King’s April 4, 1968 assassination, the repressed political, cultural, spiritual and yes, revolutionary energies of an entire city exploded in a decade-long torrent of authentic sharing of political, economic and cultural power. As a result, in the 1970s Atlanta came heartbreakingly close to becoming “the Beloved Community:” something Dr. King and the Bible explained was what happened when you got it right.
Atlanta almost overcame in the decade of the DreamWind.
