Here I am with the gruff, bearded
editor of the Atlanta Voice, J. Lowell Ware, who hired me to be a reporter in 1969. And so began my years working as "white boy for the black press" as a reporter and columnist for two black Atlanta weekly newspapers that close ties to the Civil Rights Movement and to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
